Accessible Yoga Training Online

with Reverend Jivana Heyman
and Accessible Yoga Teacher Training Faculty

May 10 – 24, 2021

Join the Accessible Yoga Movement!

We’re excited to offer our first Accessible Yoga Training online – making this program more accessible than ever! Online training offers expanded possibilities and flexibility as we explore foundational aspects of equity and accessibility in Yoga.

In this training you’ll learn how to share Yoga with all people, regardless of ability or background, by looking at the essence of the practice, which is accessible by nature. We’ll focus on creating integrated Accessible Yoga classes where students of different abilities can practice together. We’ll explore the many ways that Yoga can be adapted to suit students with disabilities, physical challenges, seniors, children with disabilities, people with larger bodies, and more.

We’ll consider how to make our classes welcoming to everyone, to empower students with agency, and to approach students in a trauma-informed way. You’ll learn sample Accessible Yoga classes, chair Yoga classes, and even bed Yoga classes. We’ll look at ways of bringing the Yoga teachings and meditation into your classes, and how all of Yoga can be used to support health and healing for every body. We’ll also review common medical conditions so that you have a basic understanding of these issues.

This course includes 20 hours of live virtual classroom hours and 10 additional hours of required pre-recorded videos and homework. Graduates of the program become Accessible Yoga certified teachers, and receive a digital certificate. You will be connected with a huge network of teachers and practitioners around the world dedicated to sharing this ancient practice with everyone, and get a free six month membership in Accessible Yoga’s Ambassador program.

Yoga teachers will receive 30 Yoga Alliance CE contact hours. Yoga therapists registered with the International Association of Yoga Therapists will receive 30 CEU hours for IAYT.
